One of our lovely customers, Mel, works tirelessly raising money for the Somaly Mam Foundation in Cambodia and we would love to help! It's a very worth while cause.
The Somaly Mam Foundation is a nonprofit charity committed to ending
modern day slavery and empowering its survivors as part of the
solution.
Human trafficking, a multi-billion dollar industry, is the fastest
growing criminal enterprise in the world. With over two million women
and children sold into sexual slavery each year, it is a global crisis
that must be stopped. More resources are critically needed to support
the rescue and rehabilitation of these young victims.
Co-founded by sexual slavery survivor, Somaly Mam,
the Foundation works to eradicate human trafficking, liberate its
victims, and empower survivors so they can create and sustain lives of
dignity. The Foundation supports survivor rescue, shelter, and
rehabilitation programs in Southeast Asia, where the trafficking of
women and girls, some as young as five, is widespread.

As a woman and a mother of 3 girls this is something that I deeply connect with.
HOW CAN WE HELP?
Well we thought we'd stick to what we know and make a quilt to be auctioned or raffled off at Melbourne's official Somaly Mam Foundation launch party.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
Make a 9" star block. Any star you like, just have to be 9" finished and in pinks, reds and/or oranges.
If you wish to use a background colour please make it white based.
(Example block. Please remember; any star and feel free to use prints!)
Post your block to us at 103a Gardenvale Rd, Gardenvale VIC 3185 BEFORE SEPT 8TH.
We will construct the blocks into a quilt.
Jenny Carmichael the Bayside Quilter has offered to machine quilt the project for us so we can hand over a finished, beautiful quilt to the foundation!
Happy Stitching!
